Nominations
are CLOSED for this year.

Each year WIC
staff nominate our co-workers who have gone "above and beyond
the call of duty", or who have displayed characteristics and
efforts that make a true champion. These folks are the
ones whose efforts at nutrition and health education are
innovative and interesting, and have inspired interest,
enthusiasm, and the healthy lifestyle changes we hope for in our
clients. They are the ones we look to for guidance, support, and
encouragement in the workplace.
Please note the
following changes for 2008:
- Community
excellence awards have been named ‘Friends of WIC’ - similar
criteria, but potentially broader scope.
- Individual
excellence award for leadership or supervision to recognize
our colleagues who manage a site, or supervise WIC plus other
services, or serve as a leader in a formal or informal
capacity.
Please think about
involving your clients in nominating an outstanding WIC
retailer, and/or staff person who is a champion for healthy
lifestyles. This could include a poster board description and
collection box in the waiting area, or a handout with the
criteria, or simply asking your clients about their good
experiences. This could be a student project if your site has
students available.

“Other
Staff Position”
category includes those staff whose work is essential in the day
to day operations of WIC, but who don’t fit into the other
individual award categories. Examples include: administrative
assistants, warehouse staff, trainers, administrative
coordinators and managers, & other administrative technical
support type staff.

WIC Awards
- Presented to a
an individual or non-WIC community group, organization,

Donna Oberg WALWICA Member
Excellence Award
Nominations are currently
being accepted for the 2008 Donna Oberg WALWICA Member
Excellence Award. The criteria for the award include:
- Provides exceptional service to the Association.
- Demonstrates active involvement in partner
organizations.
- Participates and provides leadership on policy
development, legislation, and/or program development at the
national, state, or local level that contributes to the
advancement of the WIC Program and/or the Association.
- Makes significant contributions to the field of maternal
and child health.
- Is a source of inspiration and an outstanding role model
to members.
