In
July of 2005, the WALWICA Board of Directors approved Nutrition,
Food, and Physical Activity Guidelines for Healthy Meetings
and Events to facilitate the selection of healthy, low-fat and
lower calorie food and beverage options for meetings and events
it convenes and organizes.
The strong relationship between diet and health and the increasing
rates of overweight and obesity make supporting healthy food
choices at work part of our commitment to health. By
following these guidelines, WALWICA promotes better health and
help reduce risks for chronic diseases. These
guidelines will be reviewed every five years, in accordance
with updates to the USDA/DHHS Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
The purpose of these guidelines is to ensure that healthful
food and beverages are provided at all association meetings,
trainings, conferences and special events, contracted or otherwise.
