  • Beneficiary ($5): An individual client receiving direct service (WIC, Basic Food, First Steps, MSS, etc.)
  • Patron ($20): An individual member
  • Sustaining ($200): A lifetime individual member
  • Supporting: Organizations that provide direct services to young children of families with limited resources

    • 500-5,000 participants/month ($225)
    • >5,000 participants/month ($350)
  • Contributing ($150): Other non-profit organization
  • Sponsoring ($500): Organization engaged in a for-profit enterprise

Benefits of Membership
Benefits are tied to the level of membership. Please contact Nutrition First to obtain a list of benefits by category.

Advocacy
  • Nutrition First provides a voice for its members and for young children of families with limited resources. Nutrition First members and other community advocates meet quarterly with Leadership at the Deptartment of Health and annually with aides to every U.S. Representative and Senator. Nutrition First travels to Olympia and meets with State Legislators, makes and receives telephone calls, and writes letters and emails to both U.S. and State law makers.
Partnership and collaboration
  • Nutrition First works together with service providers and state administrators and policy makers to support and improve the quality of the programs that serve young chlidren. Nutrition First collaborates with other organizations and coalitions that support nutrition and anti-hunger programs, such as the Anti-Hunger and Nutrition Coalition and Advocates for Farms and Families, a group promoting the expansion of the WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program. Nutrition First is a member of the Breastfeeding Coalition of Washington's Steering Committee and the Childhood Obesity Prevention Coalition.
Program and policy development
  • Nutrition First serves on committees working to influence and establish public policy and positions on issues related to its mission and strategic goals.
Training and skill building
  • Nutrition First has access to resources such as statewide networking, outreach, marketing and training on health and nutrition matters.
Communication
  • Members receive email correspondence on issues that affect the health of young children in Washington and maternal and child health research and best practices. They have access via the Nutrition First website for posting job listings, events and links. Members get quarterly updates through the Nutrition First newletter.
Leadership
  • Nutrition First attends and participates in national decision-making processes through participation in the National WIC Association (NWA).
