Milk "Made"
Milk supply problems, real or perceived, is the number one reason
mothers give for supplementing breastfeeding or weaning. This
six hour workshop will explore the latest knowledge on how milk
is made by the human body and the role of the mother and baby
in establishing a milk supply. Participants will learn to recognize
'red flags' to the milk supply as well as changes in the normal
course of breastfeeding that clients often perceive as “not
enough milk”. Solutions to common milk supply issues such as
breast pumps and breastfeeding management support will be discussed.
Communication skills will be utilized to problem-solve. Case
study opportunities will provide participants the opportunity
to apply their knowledge to 'real-life' situations.
The target audience is staff who counsel breastfeeding women, have an understanding of how breastfeeding works, and are wanting to learn more on supporting breastfeeding women.
This training is not appropriate for font-line staff who do not provide counseling services to breastfeeding women.
The training agenda is available by clicking here.
